Common Hot Water Units, Service & Installations
Standard electric storage hot water systems are a reliable and affordable solution for most homes, available in a wide range of sizes suitable for everyone from singles and couples through to large families. From compact 50L units that fit inside a cupboard to 400L systems for larger households and communal properties, we’ll help you select the right capacity for your usage and budget.
Heat pump hot water systems use heat from the surrounding air to warm your water, using up to 75% less electricity than conventional electric storage systems. They’re one of the most energy efficient hot water options available and can significantly reduce household power bills. Modern heat pumps are quieter, more compact and more visually appealing than ever before, and we supply a range of trusted brands to suit your home and budget.
Smart electric hot water systems give you greater control over when your water is heated, helping maximise energy efficiency and reduce running costs. They can be programmed to heat during off-peak electricity periods or when excess solar energy is available, and many models can be controlled from your smartphone so your hot water is ready when you need it.
Gas instantaneous (continuous flow) hot water systems heat water only when you turn on the tap, providing an endless supply of hot water without the need for a storage tank. Compact, energy efficient and space saving, they’re an excellent option for households wanting continuous hot water while only paying to heat the water they use. Every installation is completed safely by our licensed gas fitters and complies with Australian Standards.
Gas storage hot water systems combine the convenience of stored hot water with rapid recovery times, making them ideal for families and households with higher hot water demand. Because they reheat quickly after use, you’ll spend less time waiting for hot water to recover during busy mornings. Every installation is completed safely by our licensed gas fitters and complies with Australian Standards.
From schools and office buildings to restaurants, industrial facilities and body corporate complexes, we provide reliable commercial hot water solutions tailored to your property’s requirements. Whether you need repairs, replacement or a complete system upgrade, we’ll recommend a solution that delivers dependable hot water while minimising disruption to your business or facility.
Signs Your Hot Water System Needs Attention
- Fluctuating water temperature
- Rusty or discoloured hot water
- Water leaking around the tank or valves
- Unusual noises during heating or when hot water is in use
- A pilot light that won’t stay lit on gas systems
- Low or inconsistent hot water pressure
- Running out of hot water sooner than usual
- Not having been serviced for several years
- Increasing electricity or gas bills without explanation
If you’ve noticed any of these signs, our experienced hot water specialists can inspect your system, identify the cause of the problem and recommend the most cost-effective solution. In many cases, a simple repair or service can help extend the life of your existing hot water system and delay the need for a full replacement.
Should You Repair or Replace Your Hot Water System?
We’ll always provide honest, practical advice. If a repair is the most economical option, that’s exactly what we’ll recommend. If replacing your system is likely to save you money and improve reliability in the long term, we’ll explain why and discuss the options available so you can make an informed decision.
When a hot water system can often be repaired
A minor component has failed, such as the thermostat, element or pressure relief valve; your system is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty; the tank is in good condition with no signs of rust or leakage; the issue relates to the electrical supply or another external component; or the repair is cost effective and likely to provide many more years of reliable service.
When replacement may be the better option
The storage tank is leaking, rusting or has ruptured; multiple major components have failed, making repairs uneconomical; the system has been poorly maintained and requires extensive repairs; your household has grown and you need a larger or smaller system; you’re looking to reduce running costs with a more energy efficient system; or your existing system is nearing the end of its expected lifespan.
No Hot Water? We’ll Get You Back Up and Running
Whether you need an urgent repair, a complete replacement or simply honest advice, our experienced hot water specialists are here to help. We’ll assess your current system, explain your options and recommend the solution that’s right for your home, budget and long-term needs. We repair, supply and install all major brands and, wherever possible, restore your hot water on the very same day.
We work on electric storage, gas storage, gas continuous flow and heat pump systems, so the advice you get is about what suits your household rather than what happens to be on the van. If your existing unit is still serviceable we will say so, and if a replacement will cost you less over the next few years we will explain why and quote both.
Most repairs and many replacements are completed the same day. If your system has failed outside business hours, licensed plumbers are on call, so a household left without hot water is not waiting until Monday morning.

frequently asked questions
How long should a hot water system last?
With regular servicing and maintenance, many hot water systems can last 15 to 20 years, depending on the type of system, water quality and how heavily it’s used. Regular servicing helps identify minor issues before they become major repairs. We generally recommend having your system inspected periodically, with major servicing (including replacement of the sacrificial anode on applicable storage systems) typically carried out every 3 to 5 years, or in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Should I repair or replace?
If your hot water system can be repaired economically, that’s what we’ll recommend. A failed thermostat, heating element or valve can often be replaced, particularly if the storage tank is still in good condition. However, if the tank is leaking or heavily rusted, the repair costs are becoming excessive, or the system is older with little service history, replacement may be the more cost-effective long-term solution.
What size system do I need?
The right hot water system depends on your household size, water usage and the type of system you choose. Electric storage systems are available in sizes from 50L through to 400L, while heat pumps, gas storage and gas instantaneous systems each have their own sizing options. Our experienced plumbers will assess your property’s requirements and help you choose a system that provides reliable hot water without paying for capacity you don’t need.
What brands do you recommend?
We install a range of trusted brands that offer excellent performance, manufacturer warranties and long-term reliability, including Everhot, Rheem, Thermann, Rinnai, EvoHeat and Hydrotherm. Rather than recommending the same system to every customer, we’ll explain the available options and help you choose the brand and model that best suits your home, budget and hot water needs.
How long does installation take?
This depends on your needs. A like-for-like replacement takes a few hours and we can be finished before lunchtime. If your existing unit needs relocating, or a new unit needs setting up in a new location, installing the water or gas lines will take a little longer. Our upfront pricing lets you decide on the right complexity of any alterations for your budget.
Can you replace my system the same day?
A storage hot water system heats and stores a tank of hot water, ready for use whenever you turn on a tap. Once the stored hot water has been used, the tank needs time to reheat. Gas storage systems generally recover much faster than electric storage systems, making them well suited to larger households. An instantaneous, or continuous flow, hot water system doesn’t store any water, instead heating water as it flows through the unit, providing an endless supply whenever it’s needed.
Do heat pumps really save money?
This depends on your needs. A like-for-like replacement takes a few hours and we can be finished before lunchtime. If your existing unit needs relocating, or a new unit needs setting up in a new location, installing the water or gas lines will take a little longer. Our upfront pricing lets you decide on the right complexity of any alterations for your budget.
